Goldcrest Sound Artists Nominated for CAS and Golden Reel Awards for “Severance”

Goldcrest Post sound artists are currently nominated for awards from the Cinema Audio Society (CAS) and Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) for their work on the Apple TV+ series Severance. Re-Recording Mixer Bob Chefalas is nominated for a CAS Award in the category Television: One Hour. He shares the nomination with Production Mixer Bryan Dembinski, Scoring Mixer Chris Fogel CAS and Foley Mixer George A. Lara CAS.

MPSE Golden Reel Supervising Sound Editor Jacob Ribicoff MPSE, ADR Editor David Briggs, Dialogue Editor Gregg Swiatlowski are nominated for an MPSE Golden Reel Award for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing - Broadcast Long Form Dialogue/ADR. All three nominations are for the episode The We We Are from the drama’s first season.

This is Chefalas’ third CAS Award nomination. He has also been nominated for three Emmy Awards, most recently in 2019 for Escape at Dannemora. Ribicoff previously won a Golden Reel Award for his work on the feature The Aviator alongside three other nominations. He won an Emmy Award for Ken Burns’ seven-part documentary series The War, among seven total nominations. Briggs previously received a Golden Reel Award nomination for the film Moonrise Kingdom. Swiatlowski has won two Golden Reel Awards, both for The Queen’s Gambit, with two more nominations. He also won an Emmy Award for The Queen’s Gambit, with one more nomination.

Created by Dan Erickson and executive produced and directed by Ben Stiller, Severance has received widespread acclaim and earned a devoted following. The series follows Mark Scout (Adam Scott), from Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure that surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. The cast also features Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, Tramell Tillman, Michael Chernus and Christopher Walken.

The 59th annual CAS Awards will be presented live and in-person on March 4. The 70th Annual Golden Reel Awards will take place on Sunday, February 26 at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. Congratulations and best of luck to Bob, Jacob, David and Gregg!
